Bush: 'I Miss Being Pampered' Post-Presidency

| 11/13/10 09:11 PM | AP

THE VILLAGES, Fla. — Former President George W. Bush says he doesn't miss much about the White House, just the pampering. Bush told more than 3,000 people at a sprawling central Florida retirement community on Saturday that he misses the convenience of Air Force One and never waiting in traffic jams. The 43rd president said, most of all, he misses being commander in chief of the U.S. military.

In his 30-minute speech, he talked about what it was like to return the salute of men and women.

The Villages retirement community is heavily Republican. Many in the crowd waved American flags and wore hats noting their military service.

Bush is on a national tour promoting his new memoir, "Decision Points."

Hmm... Bush misses being pampered, not having to wait in traffic jams and being saluted by the military.

He sounds like Russian Empress Elizabeth's son, Peter III who loved playing with toy soldiers and dressing up in Prussian military uniforms - when he was a grown man.

I have been to the Villages and it was one of the creepiest places I have ever observed.

It's basically a giant, gated golfing community with everything a person would need to eat, dress, and have "fun" just like every person around them. You don't have to go outside the gates for much of anything. Just spend your days in the faux creepy artificial seaside motif "village."

You live the last few years of your life within it, spending all your retirement money inside the community buying **** that everyone else on the block has (gotta fit in), and when you finally croak, they probably have the in-house Villages mortician come and take you away.

All the research I did on the place afterward confirmed my nausea from staying there. They hate kids (They're banned), encroach on other people's land (property wars with locals) and leech off the residents till they die.

And yes, the inhabitants are mostly republican. I went just after Obama was elected and got a stern talking to by an elder for saying that I thought Obama winning in my county was quite progressive.

Beck was there last year. I'm not surprised Bush went and visited.

Military families are funny folks.  Their livelihoods are socialistic in nature yet they have such progressive-phobic views about unemployment, welfare and social security.

Un-real !!!
