Boo! Ok, so maybe that didn't scare you, but there are quite a few places that pop up this time of year that might do the trick. While most require a trip to the suburbs (or Indiana) they all promise to make you squirm.

So, go ahead--get into the Halloween spirit. Check out our top ten list of nearby haunted houses.

Statesville Haunted Prison 17250 S. Weber Rd. Crest Hill, Ill.

Yes, It's a drive, but Statesville has been voted No. 1 by for 8 years. While touring the faux jail's 30 "maximum security" cells, you will meet some familiar and murderous characters-- including Hannibal the Cannibal. Tickets are $30.

Psychosis Haunted House 200 N. Spring St., Elgin, Ill.

Consider yourself good with directions? Well find out at Psychosis, where there are long-winding, pitch-black mazes and the "Maze Master" is on the loose and terrorizing all who enter. Tickets are $15.

Basement of the Dead 42 W. New York St., Aurora, Ill.

Dungeon Of Doom 2701 Deborah Ave. Zion, Ill.
