10-14-1923

"Balls of light" have been seen more frequently—as shown in 23 reports compiled by Professor Dr. Kurt Kalle and published by the German Hydrographic Institute. They describe explosion-like balls of light that suddenly appear at the water's surface, then spread quickly to cover 100 square yards or more.

One sighting involved the S.S. Omar which was, on Oct. 14, 1923, in the Indian Ocean south of Ceylon. During the night passage the captain recorded:

"These patches of light, whilst expanding, became very brilliant and, after about two minutes, died away. They commenced with a diameter of about one foot and expanded to at least 30 yards."
