The first Earth-like planet outside the solar system will have been discovered by the end of the year, one of the world's leading astronomers said yesterday.

Professor Michel Mayor, the scientist in charge of the team who detected the first extrasolar planet in 1995, claimed that the chance of finding a planet that is habitable for humans is now imminent.

Professor Mayor said: 'The search for twins of Earth is motivated by the ultimate prospect of finding sites with favourable conditions for the development of life.

'We’ve entered a new phase in this search.'

He was speaking at a conference at the Royal Society to mark the anniversary of the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, known as SETI.

Among those in attendance included representatives from Nasa, the European Space Agency and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs.

Professor Mayor said that Nasa's Kepler spacecraft is likely to be the first to locate the ideal planet to sustain human life because it is carrying the largest telescope to ever have been sent beyond the Earth's orbit.

The telescope, which is in orbit around the Sun, is monitoring more than 100,000 stars every half hour and is focused on a star field in the Orion spiral arm of the Milky Way.

More than 400 extrasolar planets - or exoplanets - that orbit stars similar to the Sun have been discovered in the last 15 years, Professor Mayor told the conference.

But most of these planets are too large to be habitable for human life, due to having active tectonic plates that would make foran unstable environment.

The smallest planet found to date, he said, is approximately 1.7 times the size of Earth.

It is also imperative for the planet to be at a certain distance from its star so that its water would be liquid.

Professor Mayor said: 'If the planet’s too close, it will be blazing hot and all the water will evaporate and if it’s too far away, it will be ice.'

It is hoped that within about four years Kepler will have located planets of the same size as Earth that are also in the 'habitable zone', he added.

Earth's twin planet is Venus.  NASA has fudged all the data regarding it.

Kinetic energy bands giving readings of 800 to 900 F temperatures has nothing to do with surface temperatures.

Earth has KE bands in the 1200 F range and yet here we are.

Venus is the second planet from the sun. When viewed from a telescope Venus exhibits phases similar to that of the moon. Venus rotates on an axis like earth but slower and in a direction opposite Earth's. The atmosphere on Venus is comprised mostly of carbon dioxide (CO2) and a small percentage of the atmosphere is nitrogen. Venus has many clouds, which are made up of high concentrations of sulfuric acid.

Water and water vapor are extremely rare on Venus due to its high surface temperature that can approach 758 K (900 °F). This extreme temperature is caused by the greenhouse effect. As sunlight heats Venus' surface, the surface radiates infrared energy that is kept from escaping the planet by dense carbon dioxide atmosphere.

The atmospheric pressure on Venus is 90 times greater than that of the Earth. The surface of Venus is very mountainous and has many volcanoes, some of which are higher than Mt. Everest. The gravity on Venus is similar to that of Earth but the mass of the atmosphere would crush a person and the air on Venus is unbreathable.

Teletype message concerning Salton Sea, California Case - November 20, 1952.

Unidentified object seen pilot Lockheed aircraft B50 5626. On a round robin from Davis Monthan. Object seen at 20005 Mountain Time 10 miles east of Salton Sea, altitude 16,000 feet. Aircraft was on a heading of 275 degrees and sighted object at 1100 o'clock to his position. Object was stationary and was changing color from white to red to green. Started in motion in N.W. heading and disappeared like turning out a light. There were no (word not legible) or propulsion or locomotion and the pilot was unable to describe the size and shape.

They didn't fake the moon landing.  You just buy into any conspiracy theory hook, line and sinker don't you.  And you tell everyone to wake up and complain about people being naive.  Why don't you look in the mirror and say that.  I've watched a documentary about the supposed fake moon landing.  They interviewed Jim Marrs and some guy that lives in the dessert with about 200 cats.  Each sounded completely bat s#$t.  They said they couldn't have been on the moon because of the lack of stars in all the film footage.  But if you consider that light from the sun reflects off the moon the light blocks out the stars.  Just like if you live in the city and look up at the sky at night.  The artificial light blocks out most of the stars.

Then how did they solve the Van Allen radiaition problem back in 1969 ??

Why is it when the space shuttle gets 400 miles out, the Van Allen radiaition hits the hull and radiates everything to where the astronauts see spots ?

Nixon admitted that the whole moon footage that we saw was produced in an underground British studio.
