Trent Reznor: New Nine Inch Nails Material In 2010
A new musical project is also on the horizon
by Johnny Firecloud
Dec 28, 2009

So much for finality, eh? Trent Reznor updated the official Nine Inch Nails site with a bit of Christmas joy for fans who've spent the past few months mourning Reznor's decision to discontinue the seminal industrial rock band. He promised that the new year will bring new music from NIN, as well as another new project.

“2010 has a number of things planned including new material from Nine Inch Nails and something else that isn’t Nine Inch Nails,” Reznor wrote. “I am in a state of rediscovery and reinvention that feels unfamiliar, unsure and exactly what I need.”

Reznor also made a return to Twitter for the second time this month, after swearing it off due to relentlessly malicious fan feedback. He wrote “Nine Inch Nails fans kick ass. Blown away,” along with a link to a collaborative concert video that the NIN team made with their fans.

Another Version of the Truth: The Gift was filmed by the NIN crew during three Lights in the Sky concerts in 2008 with pro-shot cameras. The massive amount of raw footage was disseminated among the fans, who collaborated to edit it down into a finished product. It's now available on DVD, iPod, YouTube and, coming soon, Blu-ray, but is up for free download over on the This One is On Us Website.

There's already been a wave of speculation over the “something else that isn’t Nine Inch Nails” part that Reznor mentioned. Gary Numan, who appeared onstage at several of the "final" Nine Inch Nails shows, has discussed the possibility of collaborating with Reznor, who makes no attempts to hide his love for the "Down In The Park" singer.
