On Jan. 5, 1863, Constantin Sergeyevich Stanislavsky, one of the greatest masters of Russian drama and a founder of the Moscow Art Theatre, was born. Following his death on Aug. 7, 1938, his obituary appeared in The Times. (Go to obit. | Other Birthdays)
