A little off topic here, but if I could contribute one thing to science, it would be a machine to communicate with the dead.  Edison tried to make one, and a lot of spiritualists claim to have done so. 

What if there was an absolutely verifiable way to bridge the gap between worlds and we could know what really lies beyond?
