A stick goes in that hole in the stone, and it marks in shadow from the sun to the circular points of the glyph?

That's a pretty good observation, Keith.  The ancients were very tuned into astronomy and nature, something we have lost.

Hello Robin,

There is so much to be learned about ancient glyphs and symbols everyone has this knowledge within them some more than others? I believe certain seasons were of importance to past ancients for hunting gathering and farming ect.. The earth clock on the that rock may be off some this may be due the earths yearly precision wobble..

These spiral rock drawings are all over the world.  What if they were the result of a single culture?  An inscription of sorts, like a nation planting its flag someplace on the areas it traveled to or conquered.
