Andrew Stone tools might date to 1500 B.C.

Jackson County officials uncovered prehistoric artifacts during an archaeological study last week near County Road E-17 east of Andrew.

Officials found stone tools and other prehistoric items thought to have been from 1500 B.C.

The county is determining if the discovery will alter plans to replace the 20-foot-wide bridge with a 30-foot span over Brush Creek, located one mile east of Andrew.

Federal funds will cover 80 percent of the estimated $800,000 it will cost for the bridge replacement.
