 Brooklyn Obelisks
"Touring the New York City Obelisks"

Dover Patrol Monument

4th Avenue and 101st St. John Paul Jones Park
Subway: R to 195th St-Bay Ridge

Designed by Sir Aston Webb this WWI monument was dedicated in 1931 to the American navy. The Dover Patrol was a unit of the British Royal Navy that served during World War I, and the obelisk reads, "this monument to the Dover Patrol erected as a tribute to the comradeship and service of the American Naval Forces in Europe during the World War." There are identical Dover Patrol obelisks in Dover, England and Cap Blanc Nez, France.
