Madness, fear, anger, desire…all of these things have a common theme. They all manifest as voices within our minds. There is a book titled, “The Voice of Knowledge”, by Don Miguel Ruiz that discusses this ‘voice’. If you have ever been angry, you will recognize its influence for the ‘voice’ is interested in generating emotions (e.g. someone says something that upsets you, and the more you replay the event in your mind, the angrier you become. Your 'voice' supports your feelings of being wronged, and this helps the anger to increase).

Consider the possibility that all human beings are infected with the ‘voice’, and that it lives on the emotions it is able to generate. Stilling this ‘voice’, or in other words, quieting your mind, is a big step towards awakening. Of course, this is the last thing that the ‘voice’ wants, for when we awaken, the voice begins to loose its hold. It fights against this tooth and nail.

In some humans, the ‘voice’ has such a place of dominance and is so in control of the human ‘emotional food source’, that the individual has relinquished total control to the ‘voice’ and has no idea that it is being used. The illusion that the ‘voice’ is that individual is complete.

The ‘voice’ in your head is not ‘YOU’. You can control this voice through meditation but mainly through recognizing its existence. If your voice needs emotional food, feed it ‘love’.
