During the course of random inspection of an outgoing parcel, officials of the Customs, Rawalpindi, recovered many centuries old 42 antique coins said to be of ‘Ashab-e-Kahf’ era.

Sources close to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)

revealed that the parcel

(bearing No RB000687917 PK dated 4th Jan 2009) was

booked from franchised post office Stadium Road Rawalpindi

for Rashid Mirza, 2-B Shakespeare Avenue Hayes, Middle Sex England UB-4-OBJ, United Kingdom. Telephone No +447846218724.

To ascertain the expert opinion, Tahir Saeed, Assistant Director, Archaeology and Museum Department sector G-7 Markaz, Sitara Market, Islamabad, was contacted to confirm that these recovered coins were antiques, the sources said.

“Matter is also being referred to Curator, Taxila Museum, for written opinion,” sources said.
