Hey, HFN, the reason why the Dead Sea Scrolls don't mention Jesus is cause they talk about the Old Testament. As for the Gnostic Gospels being the only ones that mention Jesus and Mary having an affair - well, they don't even mention it, only allude to the fact that Jesus loved Mary the most, that she was his "companion" (name for spouse back then) and that he kissed her often (someplace).  They are written only a little later than the books of the New Testament, so they aren't any less legitimate than the books of the NT are, simpy tell a different story.

If the church was interested in suppressing women (as has been it's history), then they would have reason to hide these elements of the story, too.
