UPDATE FOR JUNE 2007

A number of changes have taken place over the past few months. In February, 9/11 Initiative.org began working with one of the 9/11 truth groups in NYC. Due to a lack of consensus on a number of key points, it was decided to go our separate ways to pursue the concept of a 9/11 initiative independently of each other.

Among other things, by late March, it was looking less and less likely that enough of the tasks yet to be accomplished would be in place in time to meet deadlines for the 2007 elections. At the time, it was the view of 9/11 Initiative.org that it would be prudent to take an extra year to plan and organize, rather than attempt the campaign before it was fully prepared.

Since that time, NYC 9/11 Initiative.org has identified an impressive line up of persons willing to serve as Commissioners if the initiative passes, and also found an alternate clause in rules applying to the initiative process which reduces the number of signatures required from 50,000 to 30,000.

Under the circumstances, 9/11 Initiative.org feels it would be counter productive to create any impression of competition in what has been in essence the common goal of virtually every 9/11 researcher and activist for over 5 years: An honest and thorough investigation into the laundry list of anomalies related to the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Take a few minutes to visit their site. If you are a New York City registered voter, download the petition and begin collecting signatures. If you are a resident of New York City, and have not registered to vote, this is a time when your vote really does count. Register now. If you are not a resident of New York City, help spread the word and consider making a donation to support the effort.
