American Drug War: The Last White Hope (DVD - 118 minutes)
BuzzFlash.com's Review (excerpt)

Nothing can rival the failure of the Iraq War, except for the phony, vote-getting "war on drugs."

It's a Hollywood production "war on drugs" that is more endless and counter-productive than Bush's self-serving and politically motivated "war on terror."

The money made by illegal drugs in America is worth billions and billions of dollars. A lot of politicians have been consciously and unconsciously bought with some of those funds.

The war against drugs coming from Mexico is a staged production, because the U.S. government knows that if they actually stopped the smuggling south of the border, the Mexican economy could collapse. That's because drug smuggling is now probably ahead of oil production and remunerations from Mexicans living in America in terms of dollars flowing into the Mexican economy.

But the "war on drugs" is also a wasteful and malicious war particularly on minorities, who fill our prisons in unprecedented numbers for victimless crimes that wealthy whites are rarely prosecuted for. The higher penalties for possession of crack **** is an example of a class/race bias that is deplorable.

It's time to stop the charade of "the war on drugs" that politially and financially benefits so many in power, but ruins the lives of so many people who have been left behind since the beginning of the Reagan re-distribution of income toward the wealthiest.

This documentary, while not flawless, is a good place to start.

The "war on drugs" is a charade, pure and simple. You may not agree with the conspiracy bent of "America War on Drugs," but then again, you may also believe Iraq had WMDs.
