I'll say, this convention got off to a slow start (thanks to Hurricane Gustav), but, once we got going, tonight's festivities made a fella proud to be a Republican!

First, we had a barn burner of a speech by George W. Bush:

He just endorsed John McCain!  It's a shame that fella can't run again, he is the essence of a great Republican.

Then, we had a stirring speech by Fred Thompson:

That fella is a classic speaker and prime Republican talent!  He told us all about John McCain's POW record, he also used to be an actor on one of those TV dramas.

Finally, we had a speech by John's good friend, Joe Lieberman:

Dick Cheney was supposed to speak, but for some reason was scratched:

All in all, one great night, and one that made a fella proud to be a Republican!  I'm sure that it made many of you proud and want to join us, too.

Did anyone see that crowd at the RNC?  It was nothing but old white men, I didn't see any minorities at all at the convention.

Look at all the old white faces and look at all the empty seats!  No one wants to listen to their crap anymore, I am told they had to give tickets away in order to fill McCain's 10k stadium capacity on Thursday night.

The party of crabby old rich white people, all marching in lockstep in their love for tax cuts and their hatred of anything different than their own. One wonders how they even win any elections since the only people they work for are the rich.  Roll Eyes

I noticed there were way more younger people at the DNC convention than the RNC old folks retirement home meeting.

So I'm watching this speech by Sarah Pallin at the convention and she seems a little flat as a public speaker, and a little on the dumb side, too.

Lots of sarcasm and sniping at it tonight,

no talking at all about their plans to do something for the country,

as usual, 60% McCain's bio, the other 40% Obama bashing.

Plus, some of the anchors are acting like Palin did a good job, she came across as droning and condescending.  Mark my words, she is not going to wear well with people.  She came across as snotty and vacuous.

It was like she was accepting the nomination for Miss Congeniality--good delivery, nice personality but very little substance.

I thought she came across as very unlikable.  Nothing but sarcasm and mean-spiritness, also, she seems a little ditzy, too.

What a horrible choice for VP!  She just stares ahead, with those glasses and those glassy eyes, and repeats these attacks that someone wrote for her.  She is like runner-up in a beauty contest.

And as for Guiliani, what a thug!  He showed tonight why he faded so fast as Republican frontrunner.

Same old mean-spirited party of old rich warmongers. Did anyone see them begin to chant, "drill now," during Guilianis speech?  Apparently, a lot of them own oil stock.
