Good job learning to post pictures, Bianca!  I especially like this one. He was a handsome man in his time.

Thank you, Europa.  I am mighty pleased, myself......

Yes, HH was quite a good looking man.  If you read the posts above, it was
a LARGE close-up of the face from this picture that would not stay put.

Such a disappointment, His eyes looked right through you. And, oh yes,
so good looking.....

If you care to find it, google HOUDINI ( not Harry H.)  It's in the first four
pages or so, than when you find it, enlarge it.  You'll see why I was so
upset!

Hugs,
B

Elric or any of the other Administrator:

I just finished posting in ARCHAEOLOGY a seven-page article on the "Antikythera
Mechanism".

Unfortunately [Pages 3 and 6] printed twice and I made a mistake in not checking.
And [Pages 4 and 5] are inverted.

I could not erase (again) the superflous 3 and 6, even by backspacing.

COULD YOU PLEASE FIX THIS?

Also, and this is important to me, since I just bought  this computer:

I have noticed (in the last couple of days) that I would still keep posting the
same thing, unless I got out of AO and came back.  I mean an ARTICLE "tranfer"
to here.

Let me know whether you think the problem is with my computer, so that I may
call Dell and tell them about it.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bianca,

I believe I fixed everything wrong with the Ankythera Mechanism topic - I deleted the doubles and put pages five and four in order.

You'll get the hang of it.  That is an interesting topic, by the way, and I am glad you brought it here.

There's nothing wrong with your computer, at least when it comes to copying and pasting. If you find yourself pasting the same thing twice, simply right click your mouse and hit, "undo."

Then, go into the material you would like to print, right click, hit "select all," then "copy" and "paste" again. Sometimes, the computer doesn't do it on the first try and you have to do it twice, that has happened to everyone.

You can also change the size of your text, change it's color, make it bold, italicized, or underlined. Let me know if you are interested in learning any of that later.  Playing around with the text gives the forum more of that magazine type of appearance, which makes it nice to read.

Thanks, Elric.  You're a Prince!

I really want to learn all that you have suggested, as soon as I feel I
REALLY know what I'm doing.  Two BIG things in one week is a lot for
someone who is not too good at this!

By the way, I am the most proud (so far) of the ALEXANDRIA LIBRARY
thread.  Did you see it?  That last picture was an especially lucky find:
THE FROSTING ON THE CAKE!

And, oh yea, I still want to learn how to get THAT picture of Houdini where
it belongs.

Thank again and hugs,
B

No problem, Bianca, I am glad I could help.  And no rush on learning how to do the other things, whenever you are ready, let me know. There are a lot of functions the board has that I haven't even tried yet.

Alexandria is/was a fascinating place.  Too bad we can never have seen it in it's glory - at the very least, we would know what the library looked like.

Elric,

I just noticed that you brought up all the pictures that wouldn't for me in
the Underwater Relics of Alexandria.  At least they let me have the Url....

Thanks a lot, my "Guardian Angel"!

Hugs,
B.

Yes, well, the problem with that was that the URL address wasn't between the (IMG) (/IMG) brackets. Remember, the coding has to be just right, or else the pictures won't come up.  You'll get the hang of it,. I'm glad that I could help.

Elric:

I have run into a problem:

A while back I translated Ulf Richter's last contribution to Etruscan Archaeology from
an Italian site. (See Ulf Richter's Obit on our main page).

At the time I did not know how to post pictures, so I omitted them.  Yesterday I tried
to remedy this, but the method was altogether different from what I am used to.  I
think it is Adobe.

No rush,

I just realized, when I went back to Antikitera, that they also offer the Html version.

I still would like to know what to do in case all that is available is PDF

Thanks,

Hi Bianca,

Nice job learning how to post pictures!

Unfortunately, we can't use the same method to post pictures from PDFs, or even the text used in them either.  The only way to do anything from a PDF is to convert them into Word documents, which requires the purchase of another program.  Even then, the pictures have to be saved as JPEGs and then posted at a web hosting site, which is much more involved.

Best to just stick with pictures from websites.

Thanks, Europa:

We'll leave the more involved method for a future time.

Love and hugs,

Julia, I fixed your post for you.

Remember you have to have the (IMG) (/IMG) tags around the web address for the picture.

This is accomplished simply by pasting the web address on the post, highlighting it, and hitting the green and blue "picture" icon.  It's quick and easy once you get the hang of it.
