GREECE                                                                                        continued

While one does not see all the ancient Egyptian gods as having been
Atlantean settlers, one is inclined to think that there is some connect-
ion between the twelve Greek Olympians and the latter-day kings of
Atlantis.

The characters of the Classical Pantheon are all too human to be
divine.

What probably happened is that the original Atlantean visitors to
those parts did not settle the country districts, but implanted the story
of their native land, with its lofty peaks and twelve rulers, upon the
folk of the coastal areas and it later became fused with the architypal
gods and indigenous deities of the region.

The demi-gods and heroes who came later were probably the des-
scendants of the children they begat with native women, being
described in the myths as fathered by a god on a mortal woman.

The Frisians, who came later and with whom the early Athenians did
battle, no doubt resembed the Atlanteans in appearance and skills,
being a tall, fair people who worked in bronze.
