The presence of shell fossils from the sea around the base of the
Great Pyramid has been seen by some researchers as evidence that
the structure has experienced one or more major inundations, al-
though sceptics will no doubt counter with the suggestion that the
shells were probably there when the pyramid was built.

Schwaller de Lubicz maintains that the erosion of the Sphinx was
due to the action of water, not of wind and sand.  Were this to be
confirmed,  (it was, recently - Bianca) however, the accepted chro-
nological history of civilization would be overthrown.

As John Anthony West, a researcher into ancient knowledge and a
disciple of Schwaller de Lubicz, succintly points out:

"  In principle, there can be no objection to the water erosion of the
Sphinx, since it is agreed that in the past Egypt has suffered
radical climatic changes and periodic inundations - by the sea and
(in the not so remote past) by tremendous Nile floods.  The latter
are thought to correspond to the melting of the ice from the last
ice age.  Nile floods are believed to have taken place subsequent to
this date.  The last of these floods is dated around 10,000 BC.

It follows, therefore, that if the great Sphinx has been eroded by
water, it must have been constructed prior to the flood or floods
responsible for the erosion."
