Several places have been suggested by scholars as possible Atlantean colonies based
on similarities in myths and customs.

The best known of all of these colonies is believed to be Egypt, whose history can be
traced back many thousands of years.  There are, however, conflicting reports and
wide divergence of opinion regarding early civilization in pre-dynastic Egypt that need
to be aired and analysed.

According to Cyril Aldred, during late Palaeolithic times the retreating ice-cap affected
the climate of North Africa, causing it to become progressively drier.  In Egypt the early
pre-dynastic period, calculated from around 5000BC to 3600BC, encompasses the Neo-
lithic and Chalcolithic periods.

The Middle and Late pre-dynastic period is reckoned as 3600BC to 3200BC, after which
we enter the realms of history.

From archaeololgical finds, we know that during the Amratian period there was an influx
of broad-headed (brachycephalic) peoples, the indigenous population of Hamites belong-
ing to the long-headed (dolichocephalic) type.  All the evidence points to the fact that
this spread of foreign influence in the fourth millennium BC came from the north.

Spanuth agrees with this, asserting that in the Egypt of 8000-9000BC there was no
Egyptian state, no temples with inscriptions and no papyrus texts.
