Ancient epitaph found in northwest Iran
Sun, 18 May 2008 16:45:53

Iranian archeologists have recently found an ancient epitaph in a village located in the country's northwestern province of Zanjan.

“The coffer-shaped epitaph is made of sedimentary stone and dates back to 534 years ago,” said Parastou Qasemi, of Zanjan's cultural heritage office.

“The epitaph is beautifully decorated and bears the name of the deceased and the date of his death,” she added.

The epitaph will be housed in Zanjan's Museum of Inscriptions.
