I think things would be a lot easier if Castro was not still the leader there.

As I understand it, when the site was first found back in 2001, they even thought it might be a
secret military installation underwater at first. I suppose that they still have to get the government's permission.

I did read in the articles that, because it is so far beneath the surface, scientists think that it is the work of a civilization not just a couple of thousand years old, but as much as fifty thousand years old.

That's because the reason why it was submerged was because of rising water levels.

If it was drowned because of some natural disaster, like say, the Atlantis story, they might have to revise the whole theory.
