Title: Expresso Yourself at the Espresso Bar!
Post by: rockessence on April 16, 2007, 02:46:42 pm
Ah monday night, should be quiet....around the corner, down the alley....Hmmmm which door?  I think the middle one....Ooooh  nice room, the juke is playing "Blue Monk".   I think I'll sit in the far corner and see who comes in.... sip on my hot chocolate with a shot of E.......Oh who's that...?

Say, does this place serve beer, too, or did I walk in the wrong door?

There is the faint scent of something illegal emanating from a booth in the corner, the television is on displaying America's latest tragedy (to our shame), and  there is a big fat harry guy from Texas pounding on the door (wearing some rigging).  :)

(http://a75.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/44/l_d0402eea74f26e1e61052c54183263ca.gif)I think I'll play the jukebox...somebody loan me quarter ...thanks

It's nine o'clock on a Saturday
The regular crowd shuffles in
There's an old man sitting next to me
Making love to his tonic and gin

He says "Son can you play me a memory?
I'm not really sure how it goes,
but it's sad and it sweet and I knew it
complete when I were a younger man's clothes."

Bridge: la la didi daa
la la didi daa
daa dum

Chorus: Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
We're all in the mood for a melody
and you've got us feeling alright

Now John at the bar is a friend of mine
he gets me my drink for free
and he's a quick with a joke
or to light up your smoke
but there's someplace that he'd rather be

He says "Bill, I believe this is killing me,"
as the smile ran away from his face
"well I'm sure that I could be a movie star
if could get out of this place."

Bridge: la la didi daa
la la didi daa
daa dum

Now paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And he's talking with Davey who's still in the Navy
and probably will be for life

And the waitress is practicing politics
as the businessmen slowly get stoned
Yes they're sharing a drink they call loneliness
but it's better than drinking alone

Chorus: Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
We're all in the mood for a melody
and you've got us feeling alright

It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the manager gives me a smile
'Cause he knows that it's me they've been coming to see
To forget about life for awhile

And the piano sounds like a carnival
And the microphone smells like a beer
And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar
And say "Man, what are you doing here?"

Bridge: la la didi daa
la la didi daa
daa dum

Chorus: Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
We're all in the mood for a melody
and you've got us feeling alright

I bring in my boombox and begin playing Nine Inch Nails, "Closer."  Someone yells to me, "turn that crap down!!!"

I say, "make me."

Somebody picks up my boombox and hurls it through a window with a gigantic crash!

I have to run back out into the parking lot and see it it's alright.

Increased security at school today.  Things could have been worse, I suppose.  All those kids could have been killed from a terrorist attack and Bush would have used it to try and get four more years...

Yeah, thank god an Islamist didn't do it in the name of allah, or the rightwingers would run roughshod over our rights. Now lets hope, since it was just a nut with a gun, that the leftwingers don't try to run roughshod over our rights.

In the back of the room, I sit, strumming my guitar, a flock of guys sitting at my feet, hanging on my every word (each one of them, of course, hoping they'll get some).

Off in a corner, Michelle is sitting there, crying, getting consoled by Curt because someone slugged her and she now has a bloody nose (boy, did that feel good!)

Mean Woman Blues

Words & Music: Claude DeMetrius

I got a woman,
Mean as she can be
I got a woman,
Mean as she can be
Sometimes I think
She's almost mean as me

A black cat up and died of fright
'Cause she crossed his path last night
Oh, I got a woman
Mean as she can be
Sometimes I think
She's almost mean as me

She kiss so hard, she bruise my lips
Hurts so good, my heart just flips
Oh, I got a woman
Mean as she can be
Sometimes I think
She's almost mean as me

The strangest gal I ever had
Never happy 'less she's mad
Oh, I got a woman
Mean as she can be
Sometimes I think
She's almost mean as me

She makes love without a smile
Ooh, hot dog that drives me wild
Oh, I got a woman
Mean as she can be
Sometimes I think
She's almost mean as me

Love the touch, love everything about it. :)

Although I swear I saw a few ghosts of AR's past over in the darkened corner, a few of the notorious members.  I think you should turn up those Nine Inch Nails, and scare them away, Jennie ;)

As for me, I am going to partake of a dinnerable type meal -- which btw, MOST coffee shops don't serve. (I'm hoping this one is an exception)

Bonne Nuit...

Pagan gets drunk and starts a striptease.  Michelle, looking for vengeance calls the cops and the boys in blue come by, wanting to shut the place down for lewd conduct.

Gee, we have some explaining to do.

Oh, lucky us!

One of the patrons is an off duty officer and he puts in a good word for us.

The place stays open. I order a steak and some fries, and once again, everything is fine with the world...

"lude" conduct?  Is someone on ludes?  Oh you must mean "lewd" if Paggie's involved......

Bob McGuire sits down to the old upright.... Hmmmmm, almost sounds like Billie Holiday will step out of the shadows and moan into the night.....  This is gonna be good.

Just got back from Spring Break.  How is everyone??

Really some culture shock, as soon as I get back, the news is filled with word of the mass murders at Virginia Tech.  Really makes you eager to go back to classes again!

Those poor kids at Virginia Tech.  It is way too easy to get a firearm in  this country.

Mars Summer Polar Cap

Type: Animated GIF

The animation is composed of two composite albedo images of the martian north polar cap from the martian mid-summer in 1999 (May 9-21) and 2001 (March 27 - April 7). The color scheme represents albedo (surface brightness) where red is the brightest and purple is the darkest. Regions with albedo less than .23 are soil (purple-blue). Regions brighter than 0.23 are covered with water ice. The brightest regions (red) are covered with frost from condensing water in the atmosphere. The animation shows interannual variations in the cap brightness, suggesting a variation in frost formation from year to year. A greater understanding of the processes that cause summer frost formation on the northern cap will help NASA and the scientific community discover how water on Mars is transported.

Well there's a red house over yonder
That's where my baby stays
Lord there's a red house over yonder
Oh that's where my baby stays
I ain't been home to see my baby
In ninety-nine and one half days

Wait a minute, something wrong here
My key won't unlock this door
Wait a minute, something wrong here
Lord have mercy this
key won't unlock this door
(something wrong here)
I gotta bad, bad feeling
My baby don't live here no more
(That's ok, I still got my guitar...look out!)

Well I might as well look back over yonder
Way back up over the hill
Lord I might as well go back over yonder
Way back yonder across the hill
Even though my baby don't love me no more
I know her sister will

I've been drivin' all night, my hands are wet on the wheel.
There's a voice in my head that drives my heel.
My baby call said I need you here.
It's half past four and I'm shifting gears.

When I get lonely and the longing gets too much,
She sends comfort coming in from above.
Don't need no radio at all.
We got a thing that's called radar love
We got a wave in the air
Radar love

The radio's playin' some forgotten song.
Brenda Lee's coming on strong.
The road has got me hypnotized,
As I spin into a new sunrise.

When I get lonely and the longing gets too much,
She sends comfort coming in from above.
Don't need no radio at all.
We got a thing that's called radar love
We got a wave in the air
Radar love

No more speed I'm almost there.
Gotta keep cool, now, gotta take care.
Last car to pass, here I go.
The line of cars go down real slow.
The radio plays that forgotten song.
Brenda Lee's coming on strong.
The news man sang his same song,
One more radar lover gone.

When I'm feeling lonely and I'm sure I've had enough.
She sends the comfort coming in from above.
Don't need no radio at all
We got a thing that's called radar love
We got a light in the sky
We got a thing and its called radar love
We got a thing that's called
Radar love

In my life

There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

In my life I love you more

All Of Me

You took my kisses and all my love
You taught me how to care
Am I to be just a remnant of a one side love affair

All you took
I gladly gave
There is nothing left for me to save

All of me
Why not take all of me
Can't you see
I'm no good without you
Take my lips
I want to loose them
Take my arms
I'll never use them
Your goodbye left me with eyes that cry
How can I go on dear without you
You took the part that once was my heart
So why not take all of me

Ballroom Blitz

Are you ready, Steve? Uh-huh
Andy? Yeah! Mick? Ok
Alright fellas, let's go!

Oh it's been getting so hard
Livin' with the things you do to me, aha
Oh my dreams are getting so strange
I'd like to tell you everything I see

Oh, I see a man at the back
As a matter of fact his eyes are as red as the sun
And a girl in the corner let no one ignore her
'Cause she thinks she's the passionate one
Oh yeah, it was like lightning, everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing, and they all started grooving
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
And the man at the back said
Everyone attack and it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said
Boy I wanna warn ya, It'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz

I'm reaching out for something
Touching nothing's all I ever do
Oh, I softly call you over
When you appear there's nothing left of you, aha
Now the man in the back
Is ready to crack as he raises his hands to the sky
And the girl in the corner is everyone's mourner
She could kill you with the wink of an eye
Oh yeah, it was electric, so frightfully hectic
And the band started leaving, 'cause they all stopped breathing

Refrain

Oh yeah it was like lightning, everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing, and they all started grooving

Refrain

It's a ballroom blitz, it's it's a ballroom blitz
It's it's a ballroom blitz, its a ballroom blitz. (http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q271/CS445123/crocodilly-do_e0.gif)

AC/DC
Big Balls

I'm rather upper class high society
God's gift to ballroom notoriety
I always fill my ballroom
The event is never small
The social pages say I've got
The biggest balls of all

I've got big balls
I've got big balls
And they're such big balls
Dirty big balls
And he's got big balls
And she's got big balls
But we've got the biggest balls of them all

And my balls are always bouncing
My ballroom always full
And everybody cums and cums again
If your name is on the guest list
No one can take you higher
Everybody says I've got
Great balls of fire

I've got big balls
I've got big balls
And they're such big balls
Dirty big balls
And he's got big balls
And she's got big balls
But we've got the biggest balls of them all

Some balls are held for charity
And some for fancy dress
But when they're held for pleasure
They're the balls that I like best
My balls are always bouncing
To the left and to the right
It's my belief that my big balls
Should be held every night

I've got big balls
I've got big balls
And they're such big balls
Dirty big balls
And he's got big balls
And she's got big balls
But we've got the biggest balls of them all

And I'm just itching to tell you about them
Oh we had such wonderful fun
Seafood cocktail, crabs, crayfish...
Ball sucker

Increased security at school today.  Things could have been worse, I suppose.  All those kids could have been killed from a terrorist attack and Bush would have used it to try and get four more years...

Good one!!!   :D

Ballroom Blitz

Are you ready, Steve? Uh-huh
Andy? Yeah! Mick? Ok
Alright fellas, let's go!

Oh it's been getting so hard
Livin' with the things you do to me, aha
Oh my dreams are getting so strange
I'd like to tell you everything I see

Oh, I see a man at the back
As a matter of fact his eyes are as red as the sun
And a girl in the corner let no one ignore her
'Cause she thinks she's the passionate one
Oh yeah, it was like lightning, everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing, and they all started grooving
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
And the man at the back said
Everyone attack and it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said
Boy I wanna warn ya, It'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz

I'm reaching out for something
Touching nothing's all I ever do
Oh, I softly call you over
When you appear there's nothing left of you, aha
Now the man in the back
Is ready to crack as he raises his hands to the sky
And the girl in the corner is everyone's mourner
She could kill you with the wink of an eye
Oh yeah, it was electric, so frightfully hectic
And the band started leaving, 'cause they all stopped breathing

Refrain

Oh yeah it was like lightning, everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing, and they all started grooving

Refrain

It's a ballroom blitz, it's it's a ballroom blitz
It's it's a ballroom blitz, its a ballroom blitz. (http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q271/CS445123/crocodilly-do_e0.gif)

Good golly Miss Molly, you sure like to ball
Good golly, Miss Molly, you sure like to ball
When you're rockin' and a rollin'
Can't hear your mamma call

From the early early mornin' till the early early night
You can see Miss Molly rockin' at the house of blue lights
Good golly, Miss Molly, you sure like to ball
When you're rockin' and a rollin' can't hear your mamma call

Well, now mamma, papa told me: "Son, you better watch your step."
If you hear my mamma talking you'll remember what she said
Good golly, Miss Molly, you sure like to ball
When you're rockin' and a rollin' can't hear your momma call

Good golly, Miss Molly, you sure like to ball
Good golly, Miss Molly, you sure like to ball
When you're rockin' and a rollin' can't hear your momma call

Yeah, I'm going to the corner, gonna buy a diamond ring
Would you hug me and a-kiss me, make me ting-a-ling-a-ling
Good golly, Miss Molly, you sure like to ball
When you're rockin' and a rollin' can't hear your momma call

Sittin' down by my window,
Just lookin' out at the rain, at the rain
I said I'm sittin' down by my window,
Just lookin' out at the rain.
You know somethin' came along, grabbed a hold of me,
Felt just like a ball and chain.

And I say, oh, oh, oh, hon',
Why does every thing go wrong ?
It all goes wrong.
And I say, oh, now tell me why,
Does every thing go wrong, all wrong.
Say, here you gone today, an' I wanted to love you
For so long.

Love's got a hold on me, baby,
Feels just like a ball and chain, hmm hmm hmm.
Oh, love's got a hold on me, baby,
Feels just like a ball and chain.
And I don't know why the man I'm lovin'
Wanna leave me in so much pain.

And I say, oh oh oh, hon', tell me why,
Tell me why, tell me why, oh tell me why, why, why.
And I say, oh, honey why, why, oh why, tell me why.
I thought our love would last
Honey, gonna last, last
Till the day I die.

And I say oh, whoa, whoa, hon'
It ain't fair, it ain't fair what you can do,
What you can do, Lord.
And I say oh whoa,
Lord, it ain't fair, it ain't fair what you can do, Lord, you can do.
Oh suddenly you broke my heart
Oh when I was givin' my love to you.

Sittin' down by my window,
Just lookin' out at the rain.
I said I'm sittin' down by my window,
Just lookin' out at the rain.
Somethin' came along, grabbed a hold of me,
Felt just like a ball and chain.

And I say oh, hon this can't be
This can't be all in vain, no, no, no.
And I say whoa, whoa, this can't be,
Honey, it can't be all in vain,
Hope there is someone that could tell me
Hon', tell me why love is like
A ball and chain.

Artist: Mama Cass
Song: Dream a Little Dream of Me

Stars shining bright above you

Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you"

Birds singing in the sycamore tree

Dream a little dream of me

Say "Night-ie night" and kiss me

Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me

While I'm alone and blue as can be

Dream a little dream of me

Stars fading but I linger on, dear

Still craving your kiss

I'm longing to linger till dawn, dear

Just saying this

Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you

Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you

But in your dreams whatever they be

Dream a little dream of me

.

I couldn't find Anna, but I did find Ticket to ride

Beatles
Anna

Anna, you come and ask me girl
To set you free, girl
You say he loves you more than me

So I will set you free
Go with him, go with him

Anna, girl, before you go now
I want you to know now
That I still love you so
But if he loves you more, go with him

All of my life I've been searching for a girl
To love me like I love you oh, now
But every girl I've ever had breaks my heart

And leaves me sad, what am I
What am I suppose to do oh, oh, oh .....
Anna, just one more thing, girl
You give back your ring to me
And I will set you free, go with him

All of my life I've been searching for a girl
To love me like I love you
Cause let me tell you now
But every girl I've ever had breaks my heart

And leaves me sad, what am I
What am I suppose to do oh, oh, oh .....
Anna, just one more thing, girl
You give back your ring to me
And I will set you free,
Go with him, go with him
You can go with him, girl, go with him

Peace In The Valley
Thomas Dorsey

as performed by Elvis Presley

Oh well, I'm tired and so weary
But I must go alone
Till the lord comes and calls, calls me away, oh yes
Well the morning's so bright
And the lamp is alight
And the night, night is as black as the sea, oh yes

There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me

Well the bear will be gentle
And the wolves will be tame
And the lion shall lay down by the lamb, oh yes
And the beasts from the wild
Shall be led by a child
And I'll be changed, changed from this creature that I am, oh yes

There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me

Rolling stones

Painted Black

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
I see a line of cars and theyre all painted black
With flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a new born baby it just happens evry day
I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and it has been painted black
Maybe then Ill fade away and not have to face the facts
Its not easy facin up when your whole world is black

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the settin sun
My love will laugh with me before the mornin comes

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
Hmm, hmm, hmm,...
I wanna see it painted, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black
Yeah!

Like a Rolling Stone
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xO0gSJGJ7Fs&mode=related&search= (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xO0gSJGJ7Fs&mode=related&search=)

Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you?
People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall"
You thought they were all kiddin' you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin' out
Now you don't talk so loud
Now you don't seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You've gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you find out you're gonna have to get used to it
You said you'd never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He's not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And ask him do you want to make a deal?

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all come down and did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain't no good
You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain't it hard when you discover that
He really wasn't where it's at
After he took from you everything he could steal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
They're drinkin', thinkin' that they got it made
Exchanging all kinds of precious gifts and things
But you'd better lift your diamond ring, you'd better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal.

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Expect No Mercy

If you`re ready for the street
You wanna mix it in some fight
Let me tell you somethin`
Now I don`t wanna get you uptight
But if you`re in a corner
And you can`t find no way out
Don`t look around for no help
No, no there won`t be any around

Expect no mercy, expect no mercy
Expect no mercy, expect no mercy

So you think you got a case
And you think you know the score
No you don`t wanna listen
You can`t be told no more
But wait`ll you get out there
You better do it right
`Cause the streets are lined with things that kill
And they`re hidin` in the night

Expect no mercy, expect no mercy
Expect no mercy, expect no mercy
Expect no mercy, expect no mercy
Expect no mercy, expect no mercy

Feel that you can cut it
You think you got the time
They`ll only give you one chance
Better get it right first time
And the game you`re playing
If you lose you gotta pay
If you make just one wrong move
You`ll get blown away

Expect no mercy, expect no mercy
Expect no mercy, expect no mercy
Expect no mercy, expect no mercy
Expect no mercy, expect no mercy

Black Sabbath
Paranoid

Finished with my woman 'cause she couldn't help me with my mind
People think I'm insane because I am frowning all the time

All day long I think of things but nothing seems to satisfy,
Think I'll lose my mind if I don't find something to pacify

Can you help me occupy my brain?
Oh yeah

I need someone to show me the things in life that I can't find,
I can't see the things that make true happiness, I must be blind

Make a joke and I will sigh and you will laugh and I will cry
Happiness I can not feel and love to me is so unreal

And so as you hear these words telling you now of my state
I tell you to enjoy life, I wish I could but (it's/I'm) too late

There are almost 11,000 GUN LAWS on the books in America. How many laws will prevent another tragedy? 12,000, 13,000? When does the idiocy end? When do we take a step back and say that it isn't the NUMBER of laws we hve but the QUALITY? Ever?

Does enforcement ever enter the equation? Does the question of what kind of society we have ever enter into it? Or do we all just immediately do the left-wing shuffle and try to regulate guns  'n ammo to the point where the SECOND AMENDMENT becomes obsolete? And would you EVER think of regulating Free Speech (1st amendemnt) the way you do the Second?

Lose the attitude (and what a miserable answer).  32 people just get killed by someone and the first thing you think of is that you want to protect what you think is your right to bear arms?  Shows where your values are.

This ISN'T the place to have this discussion, though, so I will open up a new topic in General & Misc. and hopefully you'll have the balls to show up and defend your beliefs.

Hey Rocky

What is Festival Express?

Festival Express is a movie that has been in a vault since 1971 or so.  It was filmed on a train going across Canada.   Present were Janice, the Dead, the Band, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Delaney and Bonnie, Full Tilt Boogie and others.  Nobody slept the whole time!

Go rent it NOW!!

http://www.festivalexpress.com/

Here is the Washington Post's review:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A56123-2004Sep2.html

In the pic is an old aquaintance, John (Marmaduke) Dawson of the New Riders of the Purple Sage, the blond guy next to Janis, uncredited in the photo.  He played in gigs with Garcia in coffee houses before the Dead came into being.  I knew him when he was a student at Occidental College in LA. in 65.   I was 17.

RE Sanjaya,

He will have a great pop-star career, don't worry, and will tour with the Am. Idol top 12 after this is done.   He has a place in the hearts of a lot of young fems. and will be able to make a living on that for decades!

His voice didn't live up the potential shown originally, too bad.  He was just up against some real power there.

Hello Mary Lou
RICKY NELSON

(Gene Pitney)

You passed me by one sunny day
Flashed those big brown eyes my way
And ooh I wanted you forever more
Now I'm not one that gets around
I swear my feet stuck to the ground
And though I never did meet you before

Chorus:
I said "Hello Mary Lou
Goodbye heart
Sweet Mary Lou
I'm so in love with you
I knew Mary Lou
We'd never part
So Hello Mary Lou
Goodbye heart"

I saw your lips I heard your voice
believe me I just had no choice
Wild horses couldn't make me stay away
I thought about a moonlit night
My arms about good an' tight
That's all I had to see for me to say

Oh well "Hello Mary Lou
Goodbye heart
Sweet Mary Lou
I'm so in love with you
I knew Mary Lou
We'd never part
So Hello Mary Lou
Goodbye heart"

I named my daughter Molly for Little Richard, and Molly Lou for this song!

Love letters straight from your heart
Keep us so near while apart
I'm not alone in the night
When I can have all the love you write

I memorize every line
And I kiss the name that you sign
And, darling, then I read again right from the start
Love letters straight from your heart

I memorize every line
And I kiss the name that you sign
And, darlin', then I read again right from the start
Love letters straight from your heart

At this point, Michelle, who passed out by one of the speakers, awakens to find herself deaf!  That makes her both deaf and dumb.

And then, the ghosts of rock music past come in and decide they want to participate, too - the rockin' undead!

There's Jim Morrison, who has lost weight since he died and shaved that gnarly beard.

There's Buddy Holly, who no longer needs glasses!

Jimi and Janis are there, as well as crazy old Keith Moon and Frank Zappa!  John and George, the two deceased Beatles, and then, Elvis comes in the building (as opposed to "Elvis has left the building").

It's a party of the undead and a rockin' good time!

Unk,

That's OK I know the words by heart!

Louise

Paul Siebel

Well they all said Louise was not half bad
It was written on the walls and window shades
And how she'd act a little girl
A deceiver, don't believe her, that's her trade
Sometimes a bottle of perfume
Flowers and maybe some lace
Men brought Louise ten cent trinkets
Their intentions were easily traced
Yes and everybody knew at times she cried
Ah but women like Louise well they get by

Yes and everybody thought it kinda sad
When they found Louise in her room
They'd always put her down below their kind
Still some cried when she died this afternoon

Louise rode home on the mail train
Somewhere to the south I heard them say
Too bad it ended so ugly
Too bad she had to go this way

Ah but the wind is blowing cold tonight
Well goodnight Louise goodnight

Expression?

When tending to a garden, you water the plants to help them grow and survive.
Vast jungles start with a seed. What ideas are discussed, seem to lead to alot of really wild branches.
Yet it's mostly centered around what we find on the internet.   Hmmmm

:-\  Maybe this is all their is....

Now what is left to really wonder about?

Title: Re: Expresso Yourself at the Espresso Bar!
Post by: Desiree on May 01, 2007, 01:32:21 am
Para, there are a lot of things left to wonder about.  Once we stop thinking there aren't, then we start to wither on the branch and die. Everyone needs a mystery!

  Desiree,

I know there is still plenty out there we could explore.
By the way, that was a great post about the western tip of Cuba.

Sometimes, I draw a blank about everything and focas on the next 20 ft. around that pacific area I'm dwelling in.

You escape into this small part of us all that is divine in nature, to ourselves atleast. Suddenly your brain becomes this data processing marvel, and you starting going crazy with insights about them.
Thus, you discovered that this master-peice theory about everything is without fault. Then the phone rings, the dog starts barking, and the mail man hands you a hand full of bills.

You sort all that out and from out of no where, an awe-like feeling of peace.

How?

Ya just have to stand back sometimes and just say "DA".......

LOL

Mind over matter
And that's about where I'm at for the time being.
I don't want to think about anything, or wonder.
I just want to live a little and enjoy a few of the things that I've been accomplishing the last few weeks.
I can't sit around any more when it comes to learning something new. I'm the hands on type.

If I am ever going to seriously enter good scientific proof of anything credibly,
I have to be willing to commit to no less then 40 hrs.
The Catch 22 is when you are biting off more then you can chew for time.
You get spread to thin and eventually you wind up right back at square one.
Atleast this my experience. What I learned was; Sometimes, some things are better left buried.

You don't have to take my word for it ladies and gentalmen.
Before you do drive yourself nuts someday, step back and smell the flowers.
Can't have a rainbow if the sun isn't shining.......

RIP Tod Micheal Guianan 1971-2007

:'( I'm going to miss you my friend.

For the sake of it all, I share this loss with you all because of the message that it inspired. If you are depressed and are using things like cocain, acid, oxy and so on, please get help. My friend was extremely depressed and was using these things as a  crutch.

He commited suicide Monday morning....
His family is awaiting the body because he was in Florida when this happened.
His funeral is this Friday........

He was my ex-brother in law, and good friend from way back and now because he didn't get the help he needed_

Like I said, if you are in a situation like his please get help....
You might be leaving behind people who are going to miss you.

Harry R.

P.S. I'm sorry about publishing such a downer like this, but I had to express this thought.
I have seen way to many of my friends in funeral homes.
Depression is not something to play around with. Ecspecially if you are using stronger drugs than pot....
The combo, literally kills....

Sorry about your friend, Harry. That's certainly true - people have no business getting mixed up in drugs and then killing themselves.  Life really has a lot to offer, depending upon whether you find something or not that means something to you!

I don't know what his particular grief was over, but no matter how bad things get, the grief does go away.

That is what I have been struggling with about this whole story.
All he had to do was call me and I could have gone down and brought him home.

I'm going to the wake tomarrow evening to pay my respects and offer some support to the family.
My ex called me and she was not taking it very well.

On a happier note, I'd like to thank you Jennie.
 :D

Time has to go on for those of us who are left, and even born.
I'm happy I never did anything stronger then drinking occationally and, well the 80's  ::)...........

(Rock On, dude)

If their is still some sence of balance the natural process, then all of us are meant to listen to the lessons we are being shown everyday.
Some will understand and some won't....

He had his fair share of problems, but I will choose to remember him from before  he developed those habbits. He had a heart of gold, and was loved by everyone he knew.

And with that said....

 ;) back at the ranch!

Don't

Don't, that's what you say
each time that I hold you this way
when I feel like this and I want to kiss you
baby don't say don't.

Don't, don't leave my embrace
for here in my arms is your place
when the night grows cold and I want to hold you
baby don't say don't.

If you think that this is just a game I'm playing
If you think that I don't mean every word I'm saying
don't, don't don't feel that way

I'm your love and yours I will stay.
This you can believe
I will never leave you
heaven knows I won't
baby don't say don't.

Oh where, oh where, can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me
She's gone to heaven, so I got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave this world

We were out on a date in my daddy's car
  We hadn't driven very far
Up in the road, straight ahead
A car was stalled, the engine was dead
I couldn't stop, so I swerved to the right
I'll never forget the sound that night
The screamin' tires, the bustin' glass
The painful scream that I heard last

Oh where, oh where, can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me
She's gone to heaven, so I got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave this world

When I woke up, the rain was pourin' down
There were people standing all around
Something warm rollin' through my eyes
But somehow I found my baby that night
I lifted her head, she looked at me and said
"Hold me darling for a little while"
I held her close, I kissed her, our last kiss
I found the love that I knew I would miss
But now she's gone, even though I hold her tight
I lost my love, my life that night

Oh where, oh where, can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me
She's gone to heaven, so I got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave this world

  Oooooh

Anyway, Dawn and I are friends, too, we have made no secret of the fact at Atlantis Rising, and a lot of the people we have helping us run the forum happen to be friends of ours, too, some relatives, as well. It's quite the chummy atmosphere here, all things considered.

But I know I speak for everyone when I say even for those who we have never met, nor probably ever will meet, you all feel like close friends, too.  Distance, and geographic proximity do not alone, make a friendship, but rather common interests and compassion. Let's all remember that, and hope no one feels left out.

Peace,

Veronica

It all keeps me coming back, and I can completely relate to what you are saying about friendship.
I like being able to express myself as I am without worrying about the emotional bashing that you'll find at some of the other forums.

Kudos to all of you on the forum, and all who are working behind the scenes.
It's a nice place to unwind and talk to smart, interesting people.

I feel very comfortable talking to most of you, and I'm glad that I can get that chance.
Most of us have been chatting for a couple of years now. That shows that distance means nothing when it comes to making friends. Besides, you all are the only other ones I know that I can share some of my thoughts with, without consequence or bias. I can't tell alot of people here at home how I feel about some of the things we discuss. I would probably wind up in the looney bin after being 302'd.   ::)

:D Then again, us Erie folks call that, "vacation".....

Cheers!

That is interesting...
I joined AR just before alot of you came. But after, I found that some of the best that forum had to offer was when the rest of you joined.

We have all had some really good conversations.

Cheers!

"Highwayman"
sung by Johnyy Cash-Waylon Jennings-Kris Kristofferson-Willie Nelson

I was a highwayman. Along the coach roads I did ride
With sword and pistol by my side
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade
The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five
But I am still alive.

I was a sailor. I was borne upon the tide
And with the sea I did abide.
I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico
I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow
And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed
But I am living still.

I was a dam builder across the river deep and wide
Where steel and water did collide
A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado
I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below
They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound
But I am still around..I'll always be around..and around and around and
around and around

I fly a starship across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again..

Can someone hook up the youtube song?

Here is an old love song that I played recently for a young group of girls once and they loved it.
SteelHeart- never let you go:
http://www.deezer.com/?urlIdSong=33519

Back when guys had hair that was longer and prettier then most girls had. We would play songs like this during parties or cruzin to encourage making out, or making room in the back seat. When you have a cold war and threat of nuclear war going with Russia, as it was back then. Romance was something that held us together. We also later increased the divorse rate in America and contributed to the prison populations.

Those of us who decided to get hair cuts and jobs became good little comforming slaves that do thing their own way. Most of the old crew or pack as we called it, are doing great now. The problem they have is, they can't find enough to stimulate their own personal pursuits into the things we all discuss.
Most of them also have the ability of retaining vast amounts of information that does absolutely nothing for the time being. LOL

Not bad for a bunch of kids who only prioities was partyin and getting laid as often as possible.
A few are now head CEO's and Scientists looking for ways to save the planet. If you were 16 back in 1987, you know what I'm saying is true.

Sisters Mary Catherine, Maria Theresa, Katherine Marie, Rose Frances, &Mary Kathleen left the Convent on a trip to St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City and were sight-seeing on a Tuesday in July.

It was hot and humid in town and their traditional garb was making them so uncomfortable. They decided to stop in at Patty McGuire's Pub for a cold soft drink.

Patty had recently added some special legs to his barstools which were the talk of the fashionable eastside neighborhood. All 5 Nuns sat up at the bar and were enjoying their Cokes when Monsignor Riley entered the bar through the front door with Father McGinty for a cold drink when they were shocked and almost fainted at what they saw.

A Mormon was seated next to an Irishman on a flight from London.
After the plane was airborne, drink orders were taken.
The Irishman asked for a whiskey, which was promptly brought and placed before him.
The flight attendant then asked the Mormon if he would like a drink.
He replied in disgust "I'd rather be savagely raped by a dozen whores than let liquor touch my lips".
The Irishman then handed his drink back to the attendant and said "me too, I didn't know we had a choice".

Would you be scared to drive across this bridge?. ...
The Millau viaduct is part of the new E11 expressway connecting

Paris and Barcelona  and features the highest bridge piers ever
constructed. The tallest is  240 meters (787 feet) high and the

A little taller than the Golden Gate Bridge.... but they all look thin from a distance, yet when you are driving it's a wide highway!

Christmas night wish:

May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFU5c3g6WKs&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFU5c3g6WKs&feature=related)
Ignore the second song!

The lights in the harbor,
Don't shine for me.
I'm like a lost ship,
Adrift on the sea.

Sea of heartbreak, lost love an' loneliness;
Memories of your caress, so divine.
How I wish you were mine again, my dear.
I am on the sea of tears:
Sea of heartbreak.

How did I lose you?
Oh, where did I fail?
Why did you leave me,
Always to sail

This sea of heartbreak, lost love an' loneliness;
Memories of your caress, so divine.
How I wish you were mine again, my dear.
I'm on the sea of tears:
Sea of heartbreak.

Oh, what I'd give to sail back to shore;
Back to your arms once more.

Oh, come to my rescue;
Come here to me .
Take me and keep me,
Away from the sea.

Yes, this sea of heartbreak, lost love an' loneliness;
Memories of your caress, so divine.
How I wish you were mine again, my dear.
I'm on the sea of tears:
Sea of heartbreak.

It's a sea of heartbreak.

Anyone in San Francisco or LA...?

My house mate Serena is touring with Rasputina opening for Siouxie Sioux in a week or so...2 cellos and drums..... here is her MySpace with the dates and locations...Fillmore West, House of Blues, etc...

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu Ö d=96623149

Back in 1999 a friend of mine, Joe Breskin, wrote this about her:

http://www.breskin.com/writing/serena.htm

Joe is also a wonderful musician:

http://www.myspace.com/breskin

A thousand years ago Joe was in a psychedelic band called Clockwork Orange.

http://www.breskin.com/oldjoggers.htm
from Joe:
This was an interesting set. I actually lost interest in the rock and roll and walked off the stage without putting the toys away - I had become totally fascinated by some people who were walking through the park singing madrigals and I simply left my guitar behind, on the side of the stage.
Paul Dorpat, who was sort of everyone's den father in those days, brought it back to me the next day. Too bad this picture is so blurry. But then again, who could possibly have focused a camera that day? It's amazing they pushed the button at all.

Hi Trent,

Yes she is talented.  She also plays accordian.

Are you not familiar with the saw as an instrument?  Google it and you will find quite a bit I would think.  She uses a cello bow.  The pieces on MySpace don't have a whole lot of her, not like most other of their work, but if you listen you will hear a strange wailing coming in sometimes....really eerie and etherial....beautiful.

She also does taxidermy!  And is learning tattooing...

What can I say, she is my dear child.....!

Here's a guy on YouTube playing the saw:

Hey I wrote a song last night....it's about Dave Davies (Kinks) selling a Fender Elite Telecaster on Ebay....It will be sold today....(sigh)

Dave's Guitar

Gotta sell my house, my lot, my car
Sell my daughter,  I hadnít aughta!
If I could just scrape up the cash
And get my hands on Daveís guitarÖ.

Iíd bid it up to the stratosphere
That pile of dough would make it clear
That Dave would part with it, no fearÖ.

Forget about the rent, the food,
Iím in this flaming loving mood
Iíd hold it right next to my heart
That Fender and I would never part

Sell my future, my past, my goal
Hell Iíll even sell my soul
If I donít get it my heartĎll crack
I may never get my senses back

I know that Iím just gonna flip
When I get that Tele in my grip
Iím a goner, itís certified
Lock me up, my brain is fried

But hold on now Dave, my brother,
She needs to go to a Tele lover
Whoíll treat her right, and play her good
Love her a lot when theyíre in the mood

Put on the brakes for goodness sakes
Some reality is what it takes
Just hold on now, Iíve gone too far,
Well nevermind, I canít play guitar!

Dave's Guitar

Gotta sell my house, my lot, my car
Sell my daughter,  I hadnít aughta!

OH migod it didn't sell!
One more time through Ebay hell
Trying to figure this thing through
My mind has really lost a screw!

Who can I rope into my scheme,
Who'll help me realize this dream-
To ride that Tele like a broom
Across the sky, a sonic BOOM!

My breast explodes, my eyes on fire,
Consumed by frantic wild desire.
I can't breathe, my heart beats faster
I'm so hot for that Telecaster

I flashed across the stratosphere
A piercing screaming in my ear
I see myself, too late the warning,
A shooting star burned out by morning.

Desire has fried another fool
Finally now the jets are cool,
Am I really such a total sap?
I think I'll go and take a nap.

I've been there before too Mark.

Here is some food for thought. Unconditionally caring for life on Earth.
Now with that in mind, what do we show in our day to day lives that demonstraits such a strong trait?

Do people even care about others?

Do we even want more for the world?

Does what we see around us suggest a need for looking deeper into ourselves to find this ability?

It's only my opinion, but I think we need to do these things for the sake of survival in the coming years.
We already know that by not doing it, that the world is a cruel and dangerous place because of human-kind. Yet we have the ability to overcome this obstacle and haven't.

Any opinions Mark?

This one is something my wife is thinking about getting. I have two friends who own tattoo shops here in town and I can probably get this done for around $100.00.....
Maybe less. I barter by making rigs at work and machining some tattoo gun parts on the week-ends.

Then a buddy of mine works making electric motors for several different things, who's also into tattoos.  ;)

Thus, this form of Taboo is not expensive at all for either of us.

I have this exact design on my right arm with a tribal Capricorn sign in the center.
Only difference is that mine is outlined in black and the rest of it is shaded in reds, oranges and a kind of tan that ressembles a skin tone but is darker then my complection. Soon, I'm going to have my children's horoscopes which is 5 of them and my wife's sign placed around the tattoo in a hexagonal shape.

They will be connected with a silver cord......

A moving point generates a line

A moving line generates a plane

A moving plane generates a volume

A moving volume generates a hypervolume

The threshold movement is attained at the speed of light

At the speed of light mass becomes infinite and time ceases to be

A timeless, mass-less entity can travel to any point in the universe instantly

A timeless, mass-less entity can manifest to all points in the universe instantly

The mysterious aspect of a human, electromagnetic-ethereal, travels at or beyond the speed of light

Very cool, Heref!!

here is a poem in progress...don't know if this will work:

Some People

Some men have to complain
Weather could be sun or rain
Either way, canít bear what life is givin'

Theyíre dumb as a box of rocks
Proudly grab onto their c o c ks
When you ask what their reason is for livin'

Pissed off, jerked off, run off, oh well
Too bad, so sad, sorry pal, livin' hell

Some women gotta whine
Never gonna get whatís mine
It all sucks, canít bear what life is givin'

Half  full or empty, hereís her cup
Sheíll proudly flip that tee-shirt up
When you ask what her reason is for livin'

Pissed off, ground down, worn out, oh well
Too bad, so sad, sorry gal, livin' hell

It does sound alot like the regressive thinking that so many are guilty of.
I to have been down that road. Yet when the tough gets going I am in my element.
NEVER SAY DIE!

Then everything seems to change and wah-lah. Life is good.

I'm the kind that can eat a ton crap until I'm backed into a position I don't want to be in. Then it's like cornering a wild animal. I will come out of the corner and absolutely will do whatever it takes to swim instead of sink, sort of speak. I know atleast 95% of you don't know me personally, but those who do know this about me.

I had to write something of grit and dirt... and that came out.  I think there are another couple of verses to come.

It is only regressive in the way that most people now a days veiw a situation.
Instead of trying until there is nothing else left to do, alot of folks will just give up.

This is the object I used to inspire my tattoo. Surrounding this likeness of Jesus I had a good friend of mine then tattoo a thorny style of tribal band that wraps all the way around with the Christ head in the middle.

Above on my shoulder I have a celtic cross. In the way I think, if it's something with deep meaning to me.
Having it tattood is a way of artistically expressing it. All the work I've had done has deep meaning to me at some level or another.

An RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) officer stopped to help a stranded
rider standing beside a stalled motorcycle in the mountains. It was
extremely cold, and the rider was heavily dressed in a helmet, balaclava
 and snowmobile suit.

In a muffled voice, the rider told the Mountie that the carburetor was frozen.

A motorcyclist himself, the Mountie remembered an old trick for just such
an occasion. 'Try peeing on it,' the Mountie said, 'that should unfreeze it.'

 'Can't,' replied the rider.

So the helpful Mountie took out his own equipment and liberally hosed down the carburetor, and the bike soon fired up.

A few days later, the local detachment received a thank you note from a
father, grateful for the roadside assistance his young daughter had
 received from the RCMP.

Flip and Flop

Flip: Sure ain't nothing like a nice coffee and warm shower in the morning.

Flop:Speaking of which Dear brother.

Flip: why, now whats going on?

Flop: Well it's really none of my business, but I noticed that your neighbors are always over here using this and that.

Flip: And?

Flop: Well? Why are these people over here using all this stuff for free and and not kicking you any cash?

Flip:  :D Let's look at this through my eyes. First, heres a senerio.
(flip asking JD)      Hey could you go to the store later for my wife while I work the feilds and pick this up?
And they will do it gladly as they tell me.
(flip working the feild) Damn, now how am I going to get this bail into the truck?
(Slim walks up) Hey Flip, whats up man?
(flip) Well just working and trying to get it done.
(slim) Well shoot, I can give you a hand. No problem dude.

Now with just these few senerios in mind. What kind of person Am I?
They help me all the time, and the least i can do is help them too.

 ;) ;) ;)

Anyone wanna take at wack at the moral?
And yes! I am the lame author of this story.

BTW here is an experimental song done by a kid that grew up just up the street.
Demented, different, yet unique and harmonic.

It's an astronaut carved into the facade of the cathedral built in 1105.  Apparently the facade was recently restored and like the ancient Egyptians, us moderns have left a trace for future generations, telling that the restoration was done in the era that man went to space.

S.America by itself is beautiful from what I have seen on TV and in pictures.
:) Imagine a world without political obstacles, and being able to live where you want to.

I would be there, or Canada atleast in summer months.

Now this photo makes me think of one of my favorite places here. I've mentioned the WinterGreen Gorge a few times and this is like one of the waterfalls I hike to every summer. The Gorge was carved by glacial erosion. It's definely a nice place to visit if your into geology. Not as pretty as what is in the photo but just as Green. I love scenes like these. Ofcourse the tallest water fall I have ever bathed in was only 25 feet high by about 30 ft. wide with a deep swimming hole where the run off eroded the slate creek bed.
It's about 10 to 12 ft. deep, and is a wonderful place to let your hair down and go for a swim.

Anyhow, these are some great pictures Q.
Thank you for sharing.
(http://static.flickr.com/56/185019631_c6615988d1_o.jpg) (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/231/507055622_e6ba470da5.jpg?v=0) Just to the right of this shot is a huge a pretty tall cliff. This path is the most commonly used passage through the Gorge.
I know of atleast 5 other paths that very few people even know about that leads to different areas.
One of my secret places down there looks ancient. Moss covered rocks and trees, and touch-me-nots.

Post by: Qoais on June 22, 2008, 06:29:56 pm
Long ago  and far away, in a land that time forgot,
Before the days  of Dylan, or the dawn of Camelot.
There lived a race of  innocents, and they were you and me,

For Ike was  in the White House in that land where we were born,
Where navels were for oranges, and Peyton Place  was ****.

We learned to gut a muffler, we washed our hair at dawn,
We spread our crinolines to dry in circles on the lawn.

We longed for love and  romance, and waited for our Prince,
And Eddie Fisher married Liz, and no one's seen him since.

We  danced to 'Little Darlin,' and sang to 'Stagger Lee'
And  cried for Buddy Holly in the Land That Made Me ,   Me.

Only girls wore earrings then, and 3 was one too many,
And only boys wore flat-top cuts, except for Jean  McKinney.

And only in our wildest dreams did we  expect to see
A boy named George with Lipstick, in the Land That Made Me ,  Me.

We fell for Frankie Avalon, Annette was oh, so nice,
And when they made a movie, they never made it twice.

We didn't have a Star Trek Five, or Psycho Two and Three,
Or Rocky-Rambo Twenty in the Land That Made Me ,  Me.

Miss Kitty had a heart of  gold, and Chester had a limp,
And Reagan was a Democrat whose co-star was a  chimp.

We had a Mr. Wizard, but not a Mr. T  ,
And Oprah couldn't talk, yet, in the Land That Made Me ,  Me.

We had our share of heroes, we never thought they'd go,
At least not Bobby Darin, or Marilyn  Monroe.

For youth was still eternal, and life was yet to be,
And Elvis was forever in the Land That Made Me ,  Me.

We'd never seen the rock band that was Grateful to be Dead,
And Airplanes weren't named Jefferson, and Zeppelins were not Led.

And Beatles lived in  gardens then, and Monkees lived in trees,
Madonna was a virgin in the Land That Made Me ,  Me.

We'd never heard of microwaves, or telephones in cars,
And babies might be bottle-fed, but they weren't grown in jars.

And pumping iron got wrinkles out, and  'gay' meant fancy-free,
And dorms were never coed in the  Land That Made Me ,  Me.

We hadn't seen enough of jets to  talk about the lag,
And microchips were what was left at  the bottom of the bag.

And Hardware was a box of nails, and bytes came from a flea,
And rocket ships were  fiction in the Land That Made Me ,  Me.

Buicks came  with portholes, and side shows came with freaks,
And  bathing suits came big enough to cover both your cheeks.

And Coke came just in bottles, and skirts  below the knee,
And Castro came to power near the Land That  Made Me ,  Me.

We had no Crest with Fluoride, we had  no Hill Street Blues,
We had no patterned pantyhose or Lipton herbal tea
Or prime-time ads  for condoms in the Land That Made Me ,  Me.

There  were no golden arches, no Perrier to chill,
And fish were not called Wanda, and cats were not called Bill.

And middle-aged was 35 and old was  forty-three,
And ancient were our parents in the Land That  Made Me ,  Me.

But all things have a season, or so  we've heard them say,
And now instead of Maybelline we swear by Retin-A.

They send us invitations to  join AARP,
We've come a long way, baby, from the Land That  Made Me ,  Me.

So now we face a brave new world in  slightly larger jeans,
And wonder why they're using smaller print in all the magazines.

And we tell our children's children of the way it used to be,
Long, long ago.... in the Land That Made Me ,  Me.

I have been working on a short story..In 2 parts, the first is called "Pearl" and the second is "Terry"...It starts in 1961 in No. London when they first meet, she is 12 and he is 15 and the become close friends immediately and then in 67 they become lovers and she is telling the story... then in "Terry" he is telling his side of the story, why she is so amazing, etc.  and he then tells of the time where they meet and then later become lovers and then tells of parting in 69 and then meeting her again in 75 and again in 95 and discovering that her 25 year old daughter "Teresa" is his child from their parting in 69 ...  Oh I know it sounds soapy, but it ain't that bad...they're good characters, and it's a pretty gritty story.

You have got to read this.  :D
You married women will love this.

Subject: MALE CURIOSITY / STUPIDITY

Just try reading this without laughing till you cry!!!

Pocket Taser Stun Gun, a great gift for the wife. A guy who
purchased his lovely wife a pocket Taser for their anniversary submitted
this:

Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that
sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was
looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came
across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized taser. The effects of the
taser were supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect
on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety....??

WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought
it home. I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the
button. Nothing!

I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the
button AND pressed it against a metal surface at the same time; I'd get
the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs.
AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn
spot is on the face of her microwave.

Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself
that it couldn't be all that bad with only two triple-A batteries, right?

There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently
(trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking
that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving
target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a
second) and thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was
going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger,
I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong?

So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my
reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions
in one hand, and taser in another. The directions said that a one-second
burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was
supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; a
three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the
ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds
would be wasting the batteries. All the while I'm looking at this little
device measuring about 5' long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference;
pretty cute really and (loaded with two itsy, bitsy triple-A batteries)
thinking to myself, 'no possible way!'

What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my
best...?

I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked

to one side as if to say, 'don't do it dipshit,' reasoning that a one second
burst from such a tiny little ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad. I
decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it. I touched
the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and . .
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD . .
WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION . . .
WHAT THE HELL!!!

I'm pretty sure Jessie Ventura ran in through the side door,
picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet,
over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in
the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples
on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my
body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs?

The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before,
clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an
attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living
room.

Note: If you ever feel compelled to 'mug' yourself with a taster,
one note of caution: there is no such thing as a one second burst when
you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is
dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor.. A
three second burst would be considered conservative?

SON-OF-A-****, THAT HURT LIKE HELL!!!

A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative
thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat
up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel
of the fireplace. The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so
from where it originally was. My triceps, right thigh and both nipples
were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with
Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. I had no control over the
drooling. Apparently I **** on myself, but was too numb to know for sure
and my sense of smell was gone. I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head
which I believe came from my hair. I'm still looking for my nuts and I'm
offering a significant reward for their safe return!!

P. S. My wife loved the gift, and now regularly threatens me
with it!

'If you think Education is difficult, try being stupid.'

Maybe she just has some family in town and is celebrating her birthday!  I notice the last time she was here was on the 30th, which is her b-day.  Too bad we didn't have it marked here so we could have celebrated it then as well!

Just when the world is abuzz about the possibility that the Mars Phoenix Lander will find evidence of liquid water and life-enabling conditions in the prehistoric Martian past, a new report throws a bucket of salty water on that enthusiasm.

Researchers studied geochemical findings from the Mars rover Opportunity, and now say that even if liquid water did exist on Mars in a warmer era in the planetís history, it was probably too salty to support life ó or at least, life as we know it.

Martian waters were 10 to 100 times saltier than the Earthís typical seawater, according to the report in Science, a salinity level which would kill all organisms that humans know of.

However, it also stands to reason that liquid water is there. Salt water doesn't freeze at the same temp., that frest water does.

In fact ice water in solid form hints fresh water deposits.

I'm attempting to get inside of the underground tunnels built by freemasons, under the Erie Cemetary for an investigation. I put together the ParaNormalIam Network a couple of years ago.
