Title: Aquitanian Names
Post by: Tony James Slater on September 08, 2018, 06:45:52 am
Hi folks!
I was wondering if anyone could help me with a spot of research for a novel. In almost every internet source about the Aquitanian language (the precursor to Basque and potentially of Atlantean descent), I find reference to '400 names, including deities' - which is apparently almost all we have left of the language. What I can't find - ANYWHERE - is a list of the actual names! Plenty of sites have the same handful of 10-12 Aquitantian names, listed in order to compare them with their Basque equivalents... but nowhere can I find the entire list! I've downloaded Basque dictionaries, etymological studies, all sorts of obscure old thesis from when Basque was being codified into a language... but still no joy. HELP!!!
Anyone got any ideas of a source?
Or happen to have a handy list compiled from somewhere offline?
Many thanks in advance, people!

Best wishes,

Tony

Hi Tony, and welcome to the forum. We have a whole category devoted to the Basques here:

This second link is on the language of the Basques, which our friend Bianca started when she was here:

Hope that helps.

All the best,
