In 1483, England's King Richard III crowned

In 1535, Sir Thomas More was executed in England for high treason.

In 1777, during the American Revolution, British forces captured Fort Ticonderoga.

In 1917, during World War I, Arab forces led by T.E. Lawrence and Auda Abu Tayi captured the
            port of Aqaba from the Turks.

Actor Buddy Ebsen died in Torrance, Calif., at age 95.

A man on a balcony over the New York-New York casino floor in Las Vegas opened fire on the gamblers below, wounding four people before he was tackled by off-duty military reservists. (Steven Zegrean faces attempted murder charges.)

Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, pioneer of the modern historical romance novel, died in Princeton, Minn.,
at age 68.

Nice work, Bianca, to which I would also add that Ann Frank and her family also went into hiding on this day on a hot day in 1942.

We must never forget the Nazi atrocities, lest they happen again.

I use Yahoo's AP Daily set up because it is nicely arranged, but it sorely lacks in info.  Usually
I supply it with the one below.

As fate would have it, I was too tired last night to check it and I forgot this morning......

I certainly agree with you about the Anne Frank Story and what it reopresents!!!

This was my idea for a daily thread:

The few I have done I have put in their proper section, but have announced it HERE and added a LINK
to the story.
