HAPLOGROUP X IN THE GOPI DESERT

Little et al add some more information of interest:



In July 2001, a research letter was published in the American Journal of Human Genetics, relating
that a few people with the "X" type had been identified in a tribe located in extreme southern
Siberia.

These people, called the Altasians, or Altaics as Russian geneticists refer to them, have always
lived in the Gobi Desert area. ...[ the presence of X ] is of ancient origin.

Little et al are particularly interested in this because they are finding X in all those places that
Cacey had identified as destinations for people leaving Atlantis.

Theosophy notes that the Atlanteans did go to the Gobi desert though it does not specify the
town of Altaics. It offers that information in a number of places with, perhaps, the most direct describing how advanced individuals found refuge in the area of the Gobi:

"A continent [the larger continent of Atlantis] inhabited by two distinct races; distinct physically
and especially morally; both deeply versed in primeval wisdom and the secrets of nature; mutually antagonistic in their struggle, during the course and progress of their double evolution.

Whence even the Chinese teachings upon the subject, if it is but a fiction? Have they not record-
ed the existence once upon a time of a holy island beyond the sun (Tcheou), and beyond which
were situated the lands of the immortal men?

Do they not still believe that the remnants of those immortal men-who survived when the holy
island had become black with sin and perished-have found refuge in the great desert of Gobi,
where they still reside invisible to all, and defended from approach by hosts of Spirits?

One more quote on ancient civilizations around the Gobi I would select out as particularly
interesting. It shows how much the occult tradition knows about the subject.

Though unusually long, this quote is inherently fascinating. I also like it because, at its end, it mentions "tall" - thereby lending still more support to the Theosophical scenario of evolution.

 

Yet the traces of an immense civilization, even in Central Asia, are still to be found.

This civilization is undeniably prehistoric. And how can there be civilization without a literature,
in some form, without annals or chronicles? Common sense alone ought to supplement the
broken links in the history of departed nations.

The gigantic, unbroken wall of the mountains that hem in the whole table-land of Tibet, from
the upper course of the river Khuan-Khé down to the Kara-Korum hills, witnessed a civilization
during millenniums of years, and would have strange secrets to tell mankind.

The Eastern and Central portions of those regions - the Nan-Schayn and the Altyne-taga
[today known as Altyn-tagh] - were once upon a time covered with cities that could well vie
with Babylon.

A whole geological period has swept over the land, since those cities breathed their last, as
the mounds of shifting sand, and the sterile and now dead soil of the immense central plains of
the basin of Tarim testify. The borderlands alone are superficially known to the traveller.

Within those table-lands of sand there is water, and fresh oases are found blooming there,
wherein no European foot has ever yet ventured, or trodden the now treacherous soil. Among
these verdant oases there are some which are entirely inaccessible even to the native profane traveller.

Hurricanes may "tear up the sands and sweep whole plains away," they are powerless to des-
troy that which is beyond their reach. Built deep in the bowels of the earth, the subterranean
stores are secure; and as their entrances are concealed in such oases, there is little fear that
anyone should discover them, even should several armies invade the sandy wastes where- ...

But there is no need to send the reader across the desert, when the same proofs of ancient
civilization are found even in comparatively populated regions of the same country. The oasis
of Tchertchen, for instance, situated about 4,000 feet above the level of the river Tchertchen
D'arya, is surrounded with the ruins of archaic towns and cities in every direction.

There, some 3,000 human beings represent the relics of about a hundred extinct nations and
races - the very names of which are now unknown to our ethnologists.

An anthropologist would feel more than embarrassed to class, divide and subdivide them; the
more so, as the respective descendants of all these antediluvian races and tribes known as
little of their own forefathers themselves, as if they had fallen from the moon. When question-
ed about their origin, they reply that they know not whence their fathers had come, but had
heard that their first (or earliest) men were ruled by the great genii of these deserts.

This may be put down to ignorance and superstition, yet in view of the teachings of the
Secret Doctrine, the answer may be based upon primeval tradition.

Alone, the tribe of Khoorassan claims to have come from what is now known as Afghanistan,
long before the days of Alexander, and brings legendary lore to that effect as corroboration.
The Russian traveller, Colonel (now General) Prjevalsky, found quite close to the oasis of
Tchertchen, the ruins of two enormous cities, the oldest of which was, according to local
tradition, ruined 3,000 years ago by a hero and giant; and the other by the Mongolians in the
tenth century of our era.

"The emplacement of the two cities is now covered, owing to shifting sands and the desert
wind, with strange and heterogeneous relics; with broken china and kitchen utensils and
human bones. The natives often find copper and gold coins, melted silver, ingots, diamonds,
and turquoises, and what is the most remarkable-broken glass. . . . ."

"Coffins of some undecaying wood, or material, also, within which beautifully preserved em-
balmed bodies are found. . . . The male mummies are all extremely tall, powerfully built men

The map of Figure 1 is, presumably, psychically derived. Interestingly, it shows that portions of far
northeastern Lemuria were located in western America. This rendering seems to echo the following
Cayce reading.

 

"Before that we find the entity was in that land now known as the American, during those periods when
there were the changes that had brought about the sinking of Mu or Lemuria, or those peoples in the
periods who had changed to what is now a portion of the Rocky Mountain area; Arizona, New Mexico,
portions of Nevada and Utah.

The entity then was among the princesses of the land that established there the teachings of the Law
of ONE, from the activities in the land which had brought destructive forces through the separations
from those things that made for the love of the individual for the gratifying of selfish motives.

Then the entity established what may be called the home life in that land, as each home became then
as the castle of place of worship - or activities that were separated, yet united in one as for purposes.
The name then was Ouowu."

Entity was in the land now called the Atlantean. There the entity was a priestess.

For the entity was of the peoples of the Law of One, and with the breaking up of the land itself and the beginning of the exodus of those peoples, the entity was among those that journeyed to what is now called
 the Yucatan land - or the Ithmus land.

And with the building up of those activities, the establishing of the temple service, the applications of the temple's activity to the commercialization - or those activities in which many of what ye call in the present
new discoveries, these were but a portion of the entity's associate's activities during that experience.

And when there became the heresaying, yea in those periods when there became an activity in which those portions of the land were discovered from what was left of Lemuria, or Mu -in what is now lower California, portions of the valleys of death, the entity journeyed there to see, to know.

And during those experiences much was set up that may be of interest to the entity, that will be a part of
the discoveries of natures or natural formations in what is now the Canyon Island.

For THIS was the entity's place of the temple.

For the entity then was a priestess that made for the correlating of tenets of all portions of the earth, for
the unifying of the activities of spiritual understanding, and the application of spiritual laws - not as for
material but for the harmonious and the peace of the peoples.

 * * * Hi Bianca * * * the map of Lemuria / Mu in the Pacific appears to be from Churchwards' work? Is that correct? I just gut this feeling that Lemuria was so much more advanced than Atlantis? And Egerton Sykes came to the conclusion that Atlantis was everywhere ! [and John Michell concluded basically the same thing in THE NEW VIEW OVER ATLANTIS] But I believe the GOBI DESERT and this whole area of the HIMALAYAS is the holder and contains all the records of both Lemuria and Atlantis. Its not called THE TOP OF THE WORLD for nothing ? Anything under the sea is gone. Never to be found again? Especially after 11,500 years the power of Poseidon would destroy and disintegrate everything . And anybody that doubts or questions this has never lived near the sea? DNA analysis on Native Americans began in the 1980s, but with rapid technological improvements,
research intensified in the early 1990s, Several teams of genetics researchers at prominent American
universities have been conducting numerous studies- Although results from early studies showed the
expected Siberian-Asia ancestry of the majority of modern Native American tribes, things took an un-
expected turn in 1997.

 

At that point it was found that a small percentage of modern Native Americans have an unusual type
of DNA then known to exist only in a few locations in Europe and the Middle East. Subsequent research
indicated that the European DNA was not the result of genetic mixing after Columbus. In addition, the
same DNA was later found in the bone of an ancient American burial confirming that people carrying
this unique DNA had entered America in ancient times. However, in July 2001, this unique gene was also
found in a small tribe living in the northern Gobi Desert area.

 

The DNA research initially seemed to promise solid proof of not only where the ancient Americans came
from, but also when they came. However, as might be expected, ancient DNA research has become a
highly contentious issue with several competing sides.


Most of the DNA research on Native American Indians has been done utilizing mitochondria. Every cell
In our body contains hundreds to thousands of these tiny, football-shaped organelles. The mitochondrial
process glucose (sugar) into a usable form of energy for all of our body's functions. The mitochondria are
believed to be an evolutional form of bacteria that adapted into a symbiotic relationship with multi-celled
life forms. Thus, the mitochondria have their own unique DNA, which is simpler and easier to analyze than
the human DNA found in the nucleus.


Mitochondrial DNA (usually abbreviated as mtDNA) is passed to offspring only through the egg. Thus, it
is not a combination of male and female genes. It is a haploid gene — meaning that it has only one dose
of chromosomes. The haploid mitochondrial DNA shows only the female lineage of a person. Diploid genes
are two sets of combined chromosomes, the female set coming from the egg, the male chromosomes from
the sperm.


Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is categorized into several types and groups termed haplotypes and haplo-
groups. That is, there are variations in the genetic code of mitochondria that fit into clusters. These
clusters can trace lineage far back into time.

 

There are 39 different, distinct mtDNA groups into which all humans fit and there are variations on these
types.


While mtDNA analysis is not only easier than other forms of genetic testing, it has a further advantage.
All DNA mutates over time. But mtDNA has a fairly steady rate of mutation that permits a reasonably
accurate estimate of exactly when a particular group of people migrated from their primary group.

 

Thus, two important factors can be determined through analysis of mtDNA.

First, a living person (or the mtDNA from the remains of a deceased person) can be tested to determine
the specific racial group from which the Individual came.

Secondly, the approximate time when that Individual's ancestors migrated from their primary racial group
can be determined.

One way to view mtDNA testing is that it may be able to provide a racial family tree extending back to
the beginning of humanity. The current idea in mtDNA analysis is that ancestry on the female side can
eventually be traced back to a genetic "Eve." The 39 types of mtDNA were presumably derived from this
Eve.

 

Whether this idea will be completely confirmed by research remains to be seen. However, mtDNA testing
has confirmed several oral traditions passed down through many generations in several tribes. For example,
the indigenous people of Hawaii and Polynesia have long asserted that their ancestors frequently traveled
back and forth and that they shared ancestry.

 

Genetic testing showed that these two groups were related and confirmed the migratory legends of these
peoples.

Confirming the Siberian Migration


The first research on living Native American tribes showed they were comprised of four distinct
mtDNA haplogroups called A, B, C, and D. This means that the Native Americans are derived
from four different lineages. These haplogroups were also found in native populations in Central
and South America. Later mtDNA research utilizing ancient remains recovered in the Americas
validated these four haplogroups.

 

Three of these haplogroups, A, C, and D are found primarily in Siberian Asia. The B haplogroup,
however, is found only in aboriginal groups in Southeast Asia, China, Japan, Melanesia, and
Polynesia.

Confirming a South Pacific and Japanese Migration


Based on the mutations found in the mtDNA, most researchers think that groups A, C,
and D entered America from Siberia across Beringia some time around 35,000 B.C. Group B,
they assert, probably came to America from the South Pacific or Japan via boats. It is be-
lieved the B groups began this migration not long after the A, C, and D groups arrived.
However, the majority of the B group arrived about 11,000 B.C. This leaves open the
possibility of several migrations by the B group from different locations.


It should be noted that a few geneticists have proposed that each of these four haplo-
groups came in four separate migrations. And many Clovis supporters argue that all the
groups migrated together.

An Unknown and Unexpected Migration Group Confirmed


In 1997, a fifth mtDNA haplogroup was identified in Native Americans.

 

This group, called "X," is present in three percent of living Native Americans, Haplogroup X
was not then found in Asia, but was found only in Europe and the Middle East where two
to four percent of the population carry it. In those areas, the X haplogroup has primarily
been found in parts of Spain, Bulgaria, Finland, Italy, and Israel.

ancient remains of the Basque.


Among Native American tribes, the X haplogroup has been found in small numbers in the
Yakima, Sioux, and Navaho tribes. It has been found to a larger degree in the Ojibway,
Oneota, and Nuu-Chah-Nulth tribes. The X haplogroup has also been discovered in an-
cient remains in Illinois near Ohio and a few other areas near the Great Lakes. It has
not (so far) been found In South or Central American tribes including the Maya.


The X haplogroup appears to have entered America in limited numbers perhaps as long
ago as 34,000 B.C. Around 12,000 B.C. to 10,000 B.C. it appeared in much greater numbers.

 

It is important to note that not all Native American tribes have been categorized by
mtDNA analysis and that relatively few ancient remains have been tested.
